General Notes:
1. According to the website of B&P parent Genesee & Wyoming, BPRR is participating in a CMAQ-funded program to repower two SW1500 switchers as twin engine genset locomotives. (http://www.gwrr.com/about_us/community_and_environment/gwi_green/genset_locomotives.be). According to the sources and additional information from the ARRA application, the work will be done in-house using kits provided by Brookville Equipment. Model number derived from that information. Additional information provided by the Pennsylvania Recovery site (http://www.recovery.pa.gov/portal/server.pt/document/406086/dep_-_arra_bprr_dera-appa_grant_ap04-20-09_pdf).
2. Expected delivery of these units is early 2010.
BPRR calls these models GS1400's.

Notes:
A. Core unit model of EMD SW1500 taken from a PDF on the FRA Research web directory (http://www.fra.dot.gov/downloads/research/). I thought that references were on the GWRR page referenced above as well, but I can no longer find them. In the ARRA application referenced above, the cores are mentioned as having 1,200 hp. EMD 12-567 motor. The SW1500 has a 645 motor rated at 1,500 hp.
B. Cores spotted at Brookville in Oct. 2009 mentioned in online discussion as genset cores. Units are ex-Railway Switching Serivces EMD switchers, numbers Galveston Railroad (GVSR) 771 (NW2) and Georgia Central (GC) 952 (SW1200).
C. Identity of 1401 as ex-GC 952 is based on comparison of frame features in photos, and isn’t confirmed 100% as of July 2010.
D. BPRR 1401 to be publicly commissioned on Monday, July 12, 2010 according to an article in Progressive Railroading. http://www.progressiverailroading.com/news/article.asp?id=23765 Unit spotted at Butler, PA on July 8.
E. 1402’s core unit identity is based on observation of the 1401’s frame and comparison to GC 952 prior to released of 1402. Information is not confirmed.
F. Proper Notes Coming Soon.
