DGNO 141 Dallas, Garland & NE New N/A Paducah Mar-07 058-0075 Dallas area shortline 1, 2, A, B, C

General Notes:
1. RailAmerica property DGNO has ordered a pair of two engine genset units from NRE. From an article in the Associated Press. (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070306/tx_cleaner_locomotives.html) Also announced by NRE (http://www.nationalrailway.com/RailAmerica-NRECRelease.pdf) when the locomotives were delivered.
2. As relayed by a DNGO employee, NRE says that the 140 and 141 are both built on new frames with new fuel tanks and other appliances, making the trucks about the only thing recycled on the unit. Photo evidence is consistent with this.

Notes:
A. 140 and 141 were spotted in Paducah, KY in April 2007. They were delivered to the DGNO in early May, and quickly entered service. From photo evidence, online reports, and DGNO employee information.
B. Per an article on the Green Car Congress website, (http://www.greencarcongress.com/2007/11/nrec-n-viromoti.htm) DGNO 140 and 141 have the provision to be modified to 3GS21B through the addition of a third genset if the customer decides upon it later.
C. Builder's plate info by Chris Trott. Build location from Joe Ferguson.

Model: NRE 3GS21B - 2 units
2,100 hp 3-engine genset locomotive, engines: 3 - Cummins QSK19 (700hp ea.), on 4 axles.

SDIY 702 San Diego & Imperial Valley New N/A Mt. Vernon Dec. 2008 058-0181 San Diego area 1, A

General Notes:
1. 701 and 702 first spotted outside of NRE Mt. Vernon shortly before Christmas 2009 and just before they were shipped.

Notes:
A. Build information on SDIY 702 (058-0178, built Nov. 2009) from a photo of the emissions decal by Rick Morgan and posted on Railroad Picture Archives: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1888592. Emissions decal incorrectly lists the model as a 3GS21B-DE, and appears to be incorrect on the build date and serial number as well.
B. Builder's plate information from plate checks of both locomotives by Barry Sprofera in Feb. 2010.

Model: NRE 3GS21B-DE - 6 units
2,100 hp 3-engine genset locomotive, engines: 3 - Cummins QSK19 (700hp ea.), on 4 axles, w/ dynamic brakes.

General Notes:
1. Order for five units announced by NRE as part of a press release from Aug. 2009 (http://www.nationalrailway.com/News_081209.pdf) detailing 14 total units ordered for CFNR, US Army, CSX and Alliance Grain. By that time 501 had been delivered and was in service.
2. Unit spotted in-transit in early 2010. No other word of order received before that point.

Notes:
A. Builder’s plate information and location for CFNR 501 and 502 provided by Ken Lanovich.
B. CFNR 501 featured in a news story on local television station CBS 5 in Aug. 2009: (http://cbs5.com/environment/green.diesel.locomotives.2.1148603.html)
C. 503's build location verified on-site by George Redmond. Unit shipped in late 2009 as the final unit of the order.
D. Build location for 504-505 reported by Mark R. Mark also collected the builder’s plate data from both units when they were released in Nov. 2009. Build data was verified by Richard Barnes Jr. and discovered to have been reversed on this site. That error has been corrected.
E. CFNR 500’s builder’s plate information recorded by the webmaster in Davis, CA in late Sept. 2010, only to discover that user JBarnhill had recorded the same info a few hours prior, and e-mailed it to the site at about the same time. So, John gets credit too
F. 503’s builder’s plate info from a photo by John Barnhill in Corning, CA after quite a search. http://www.trainweb.org/foothill/cfnr503.html Thanks, John!

Model: NRE 3GS21C - 3 units
2,100 hp 3-engine genset locomotive, engines: 3 - Cummins QSK19 (700hp ea.), on 6 axles, w/o dynamic brakes.

General Notes:
1. Build location from on-sight reports by Mark R and Joe Ferguson.
2. All three units were built for Union Pacific as SD24’s. 2000 and 2001 were originally SD24B cabless units. All three were rebuilt as SD20’s by Illinois Central Gulf. Ironically, that conversion work was done at the ICG’s Paducah, KY shops – the same place that they found their way back to for conversion by NRE. Thanks to Joe Ferguson for pointing out that interesting little tidbit of trivia..

Notes:
A. DGNO 2000 builder’s plate information provided by Brian Tindle.
B. DGNO 2001 builder’s plate information provided by Joe Ferguson from the emissions decal, as the builder’s plate could not be safely and legally checked
